Turner Prize Award

In December our Sixth Form Art and Design students visited Tate Britain to watch the Turner Prize be awarded. The Turner Prize is the UK’s leading award for contemporary art; now in its 29th year, the prestigious and always controversial exhibition did not disappoint. The exhibition showcased the work of four leading contemporary artists, including this year’s winner Elizabeth Price, and showed a huge range of different art practices, including photography, film and performance. The show was hugely inspiring and generated a lot of debate.

‘Elizabeth Price’s work was very unique. I have never seen artwork about death before so it was interesting to see. The best thing about it was the music; it included claps and clicks, making the video more interesting to watch.’ Samia Begum, Year 12
