Realising potential
We work hard to ensure every student reaches their potential with us. Our Gifted and Talented programme is a specialist programme of activities and support for students who show an exceptional ability in at least one subject area.
The programme is designed to be inspiring, motivational and challenging and Regent High School prides itself in identifying students with the ability to develop and achieve a level above their expected year group.
Our resources to support students and ensure their individual talents are developed include:
- Our gifted and talented programme which provides a wide range of in-class and after school provision targeted at identified students
- The Learning Development Department (LD), headed by the Special Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), which co-ordinates the support provided for students by learning support teachers and teaching assistants
- The Resource Base, a provision to enable students with medical and/or physical needs to be fully included within a mainstream school
- The Ethnic Minority Achievement/English as an Additional Language department (EMA/EAL), which includes an induction co-ordinator and home school link workers for the Bengali, Somali and Afghani communities
The Learning Support Unit (LSU) which supports students with specific behavioural difficulties. We also have a team of mentors who work with individuals and small groups.
