Year 6-to-Year 7 transition

We know that the transition from primary school to secondary school is one of the biggest changes you will have experienced.  We also know that it is one of the most exciting changes that you will make.

We always look forward to welcoming our new Year 7s, and we'll be providing some resources on this page to help with your transition to Regent High School.

The first day of term for our new Year 7 students will be Monday 4 September.  Keep an eye on our website for more details about the arrangements for this day.

Take a look below for information and activities to help your transition to secondary school.

The Transition Team

We have a dedicated transition team who will work with you, your families and your primary schools to get ready for you starting in September.  The team comprises:

  • Mrs Driscoll, Assistant Headteacher and SENDCo.  Mrs Driscoll looks after students who need additional support in school and will be the Year 7 Head of Year.
  • Ms Welch, Assistant Headteacher

Our Transition Program

Our transition programme consists of five key elements that help us to be as ready as possible for our new students in September.  We want to ensure that transition is as smooth, fulfilling and successful as possible.

  • Year 6 teachers and SENDCos put together information for us about each pupil coming to Regent High School.
  • Our transition team visits every school to talk about the pupils coming to us.
  • Parents/carers complete an online enrolment and induction process.
  • Pupils attend a face-to-face Induction Day.
  • Year 7 students start before all our other students in September to help them with settling in and meeting more staff.

Summer Activities

We want to get to know you, to know what you find interesting, what you can do, and what you want to get out of your time at Regent High School.

We have set you a series of activities to do over the six weeks of the summer holiday.  They will help you to think about your first day in September, as well as to share with your tutors what makes you special.

We don't mind if you do the activities on this Word document, or use paper and pens, as long as you take some time to complete the activities ready for September. Just follow the links below:
