Our governors

Regent High School's governors are drawn from a range of backgrounds and support the school in setting its strategic direction. This page provides statutory information about our governors.

Key information

The Governing Body re-constituted on 16 October 2014.

The Governing Body's Instrument of Government details the composition of the Regent High School Governing Body.

The Governing Body's Register of Business Interests is below.

Dates for meetings during the current academic year are given at the bottom of the page.

Background information

Regent High School is an 11-19 co-educational secondary school of approximately 900 students located in Somers Town in the London Borough of Camden. A majority of students are from a minority ethnic background, with 48% of students being of Bengali heritage, 17% of Somali heritage, and a further 20 different ethnic backgrounds being represented in the student body.

The school opened its new, £25 million building in April 2015, and now boasts some of the most advanced learning spaces available.

The Governing Body comprises 17 members from a range of backgrounds including the parent body, staff body, the Local Authority and the local community. Several members of the Governing Body work at organisations with which the school has a close relationship.  The mix of skills and experience is strong and is reviewed regularly to ensure that the Governing Body is able to fulfil its strategic role.

In addition to their membership of the Full Governing Body (FGB), governors are members of one of the following committees:

L&A: Learning and Achievement committee (SLT links: Deputy Headteacher (Learning and Achievement) and Deputy Headteacher (Support for Learning))

RPL: Resources and Partnerships for Learning committee (SLT links: Bursar and Director of Community Engagement)

The Chair and Vice-Chairs of Governors, and Chairs and Vice-Chairs of the two committees, along with Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team links, form the Governors’ Co-ordination Group (GCG), whose remit is to strategically co-ordinate the work of the Governing Body.

The Governing Body's Terms of Reference describe the roles of the Full Governing Body and its committees.

Some governors also hold additional responsibilities, which are detailed in the table following.

The table below details governors’ declared interests. Such interests may include business, pecuniary and material interests, and any personal relationships between governors and with members of staff, including spouses, partners and relatives.

Governors can be contacted via the Clerk to Governors, Laura Hockenhull, by emailing governors@regenthighschool.org.uk or by calling 020 7387 0126.

You can read more about our governors on the 'Meet our governors' page.
